Industrial annealing furnaces are heating chambers used to preheat workpieces prior to quenching. Quenching involves heating the workpiece within the furnace to a quenching temperature above its critical point, maintaining this temperature for a specified duration, then rapidly removing the workpiece from the furnace and immersing it in a quenching medium (oil or water). The furnace's heat source may utilise electricity or fuel, with temperature measured via thermocouples. For furnaces utilising electricity, gas, or liquid fuels, manufacturers of industrial annealing furnaces employ instrumentation for automated temperature control and regulation.
